Weekly Round-Up! |
||||
Good evening Resident,
As the weather seems to have calmed down quite a bit and it's been that little bit cooler, lets take time to talk about what your City Centre neighbourhood teams have been doing.
Lets get to it!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Three arrests have been made this week on the city centre. The first of which was for an assault. The second arrest was for a breach of police bail. Finally the third was for a burglary and multiple shop thefts. Take a look below for your recent Crime statistics for the City Centre.
Community Engagement – Our PCSOs were busy this week, with PCSO Shotton first of all visiting the Art Gallery to host a crime prevention stand where he was able to have a chat with members of the community and hand out useful information and freebies. PC Moore-Harbach tried her hand at some youth engagement at the Bus Station at around school finishing time. She chatted with not only a large amount of school children but also some of the Headteachers and School Staff that cam along as well. PCSOs Spittle and Holmes were carrying out some patrols around St Johns Retail Park as we have recently had an increased number shop thefts from NEXT and The Range. Thankfully these patrols must have done their job over the weekend as we had no calls for service to either of these locations! Finally PCSOs Wykes and Shotton were patrolling the City Centre with a focus mainly on the Mander Centre and the Wulfrun Centre. They spoke with multiple retailers including HMV in regards to any retail crime going on in the area and what retailers were most concerned about. This enabled them to give some advice to both centres security staff on where they should be focussing their attention.
Guardian Patrols – Business as usual with our guardian patrols focussing mainly on Dudley Street, Victoria Street and Lichfield Street. The main aim for these patrols is the reduction of public place violence within the city centre.
Night-Time Economy – No NTE shifts for my team this week but from what Team 3 said about the weekend is that it was very quiet and the had very little to worry about on Friday and Saturday.
Other News - Protests once again at the Goldthorn hotel this weekend involving Anti-Immigration and counter protesters. Everything went smoothly with just a few people needing to be escorted for the grounds of the Hotel as it is no longer accessible to the general public. And finally, an 85 year old female was located on the city centre this week after she had left home. The female who has dementia was safely returned to her home address by city centre officers.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you look forward to the next one!
Upcoming Events (All future events will be announced with a WMNow post)
This week is antisocial behaviour (ASB) awareness week. Antisocial behaviour can have a real impact on people’s lives - making you feel unsafe, anxious or unable to enjoy your neighbourhood. We know that ASB has a direct impact on how safe people feel in their communities. West Midlands Police, working with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, have a plan on how to stop, prevent, and respond to ASB. If you live, work, or spend time in the West Midlands, we want you to read our antisocial behaviour plan: ACTION PLAN Whether it’s nuisance vehicles, vandalism, drug-related activity, aggressive behaviour or ongoing disturbances, your information helps us build a clearer picture of what’s happening in your community. By reporting what you see, you’re helping local officers understand local concerns and take action where it’s needed. Every report of antisocial behaviour helps us build a better picture of what’s happening in our neighbourhoods Report online, via 101, or by talking to your local police team. #MakingCommunitiesSafer #ASBAwarenessWeek
